The National Care Service - Have your say!
Hello Everyone,
You may have seen on the news that the new Prime Minister Andy Burnham has proposed a National Care Service. With this proposal, he endeavours to “lift up” care workers and the whole care system, which has been creaking at the seams for decades. He has described the political passing of the buck on care service reform by successive governments as being, “a major dereliction of public duty”. However, he says in order to fund this new service, difficult decisions will have to be made regarding taxes.
It is very early days for the proposed NCS, and the Casey Commission, led by Baroness Casey, has been set up to gather views to help shape the formation of the service. You can have your say here and here.
In the meantime, Doctor DILF is planning a special episode on this very subject. As older gay and bisexual men (and being part of the wider LGBTQIA+ community), what would you like to see in a reformed National Care Service?
Should LGBTQIA+ people be visibly included in the National Care Service from the beginning? Do you have experience with social care? Do you have experience with care homes? What are your concerns and hopes for your own future in relation to care?
Contact Doctor DILF here to have your say, and your response may appear on the podcast!
