Doctor DILF 1.1 Physical Health Show Notes

Doctor DILF: Series 1 Episode 1:

Physical Health

Dr. Simon Fox talks with personal trainer Joe Langley and counsellor Scott McKellar

Why you should listen to this episode…

Personal trainer Joe Langley uses his long career in the fitness industry to give us the key factors of achieving that much-needed motivation to get fit. Joe also tells us what to look for in a gym and a personal trainer, dispelling myths about the fitness industry, and crucially, about doing exercise as an older man. This is invaluable advice for older male listeners who are thinking about getting fit, already to go to a gym, or want to restart their fitness routine. Joe leads us through the bodily changes as we age, clarifying why our t-shirts may be getting tighter and why it’s harder to carry the shopping.

Supplementing this chat, Dr. Simon Fox chats with LGBTQ+ counsellor Scott McKellar about the mental health aspect of physical fitness - specifically for older gay and bisexual men. Simon and Scott chat about how memories of PE lessons in school can stick with us and how body image can be an influential factor in our outlook.
